Plastic sleeves-in terms of optical media-are a type of transparent packaging designed to protect compact discs (CDs) and Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs) when it comes to storage and transport. They are comprised of vinyl or poly plastic materials and are designed with a tightly fitting slot to keep the disc in place. The slot is open at one end for disc retrieval. This form of packaging is a comparable alternative to the standard paper sleeve, with the exception that a vinyl or poly plastic sleeve allows your entire disc and its artwork to be seen.

 

The plastic sleeves are generally designed with a fold-over flap that serves to prevent discs from sliding out during handling or usage; however plastic sleeves without flaps are available from some manufacturers and suppliers.
